Materials can have remarkable careers over the course of time.
Bronze, for example, an alloy of predominantly copper and some
tin, began its triumphant progress no less than 5,500 years
ago – a period of time we now refer to as the Bronze Age.
Artisans in Egypt were the first to adopt the material and used
it mainly for the manufacturing of tools and small weapons.
About two thousand years later, around 500 BC, the precious
metal experienced its “golden age” in Ancient Greece,
where it was used for works of art.
Over the centuries, many artists followed the Greek example,
and with good reason, for bronze is durable and ages beautifully
– it becomes even more attractive with the passage of
time. Even now artisans are rediscovering what their ancient
forbears knew. However, we have advantages over the artisans
of old. Not only do we possess the experience and knowledge
about the material that was collected over the millennia, we
also have modern technology to aid us in the realization of
our design ideas. The awareness of the material's long history
– in art and craft – is an important foundation
and source for modern-day innovation and creativity. Take a
close look at one of our products, and you will see that it
is far more than just a component. Even if we say so ourselves
– to a certain extent, it's a piece of art.

Just another alloy? Hardly! Bronze does not only have a distinctive
look,
it's also an extremely durable material of very high quality.
Call it 'antique' or 'retro' if you will, but bronze is truly
the modern classic.
